In our lives we are the ultimate decision makers on where we go and what we become. It is all about what you are willing to sacrifice. How hard you want to work and what you believe in.God has given the ultimate sacrifice in the Lord Jesus Christ for your sins so to me that is the ultimate debt paid so the rest depends upon you and the choice you make to accept that.
Now many will struggle with the decision to accept this and this will begin your untimely struggle with the holy spirit and flesh.Your human side is going to keep wanting to do things that your spirit side does not want to do.You ever wonder why when you drink too alcohol on one day and the next day you feel terrible? That is the spirit trying to tell you something. It is not 100% proven but that is just my opinion.Mostly everything you do in the sense feels good at the time but later on it haunts you and feel terrible. These are the first signs of making bad choices.
It is on you to finally see the clear direction in life and that is to repent your sins and accept Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and Savior. That is it step one period point blank and only then will you start to experience life in a way that alcohol, drugs,or anything of that sort will never be able to do for you.A life in complete and total peace that no matter what you know you are going to be okay because he walks with you daily. He is your first, last, and everything and through him all things are possible. Those are just words but their is nothing but power in those words trust him not me.Stop trying to do this thing in life alone and make the choice to be free.Choose God and heaven or choose the devil and hell. The choice is yours.
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 15:16
As Christians we have been assigned the great commission. The task of telling the entire world about Jesus’s love and sacrifice for us. If you think about that for a second it can be completely overwhelming. Who am I that people would listen to me about anything much less something as serious as their faith.
Luckily for us God is with us and you aren’t alone. You don’t have to do it all yourself. You can help though. One of the easiest ways for someone to hear the Gospel is to come and visit a church service. At Faith and Victory Church we have a time in our service every Sunday where people can give there life to Jesus. Many a life was changed by the raising of a hand on a Sunday morning.
How do we get the visitors to come and listen to the Gospel though? Many different churches do this many different ways. Some churches print flyers, knock on doors, invite friends and family, stand outside with signs, put adds in the newspaper and even make TV commercials. For Faith and Victory Church we mainly use the internet.
We live in a digital age where you can get groceries, music, rent movies and even find a date online. The majority of the visitors that attend Faith and Victory Church find us by searching for a church on Google.
This is where you come in. Simply by rating our church on Google you will let other people know how awesome Faith and Victory Church is. When they look at our reviews (and they do look at them, I ask) yours may be the one that connects with them and inspires them to check out our church and allows them to hear the gospel message.
Rating Faith and Victory Church is easy. Simply do a search for Faith and Victory Church on Google and click write a review on the right hand side of the screen (if you don’t have a google account you’ll need to create one). Write what you like about the church and how it has helped you grow in your faith.
God has called us to to spread the Gospel to all the world but we don’t have to do it alone and all at one time. Maybe the first step is simply telling others about the great church you’ve found.
Have an awesome week.
Charging rhino has history. It also has evolved into multiple meanings now that we are parents, and well, there is this thing called the internet.
#1: It’s THE trump card. Actually, charging rhino(s) is my and the misters trump card. Long before we were married (or engaged), yet still very competitive, we stumbled upon charging rhinos while playing Apples to Apples at a friend’s Christmas party. Clearly a sign we were meant to be. Clearly. (Hint: no matter what card is played… we will pick charging rhinos… every. single. time.)
#2: You mess with our little rhino (aka: the toddler) my maternal instincts WILL kick in and there WILL be (a) charging and (b) pain. Lots of pain. Understood? Good. Moving on.
#3: Probably our favorite animal AND youtube video out there. Just watch. You will NOT be disappointed. Serious.
#4 – #13… this post can not handle this much awesome-ness. Or charging rhinos. Part two will just have to wait.
Have you ever been in a situation where you thought you were going to die?
I’ve had a few of them in my life. Car crashes, leaping from large stationary structures, being bombed by foreign governments, you know, that kind of stuff. It is a different kind of feeling when you think that you’re going to die. It is that split second when your mind goes “well, this is it, I’m about to come see you Jesus”. Obviously I haven’t died yet, I’m still here- loving life. Eating donuts. Going to church.
Or at least I think I’m alive. Luckily, I am not in a situation like this man from Florida who is legally dead. You can read the story, but here is the gist. He left his life for 10 years and a judge declared he was dead. Now he’s back and wants to be declared alive and the judge wont declare that he is alive. But the local court hasn’t reversed their decision that he is dead, even after seeing the man alive in court.
You read that right- the living man is considered legally dead in the eyes of the court. Someone else declared to this man that he was dead- even though he was living.
I really hope that this man didn’t accept this decree from judge. I can appreciate that there are legal ramifications from being declared dead- but the truth is that this man is very much alive. Just because someone else said that he was dead didn’t change the reality that this man was very much alive.
The fact that he was alive didn’t change just because someone else said he was dead.
It begs the question- have you allowed someone else to declare that you were dead? Sure, maybe not in the legal sense, but maybe in another area of your life? Often times there are people that come into our lives that will make declarations about us that are simply not true. Declarations about who we are, what we believe, what our dreams are. They will come into your life and declare those things dead.
Do not allow someone else to come into your life and tell you that you are dead.
The truth is that it is only God who can declare someone dead, and if you are currently still breathing in and out, reading this blog and experiencing life, you are not dead! You still can influence your world with who you are, and the plans that God has given you for your life. You still can continue your dreams and move forward towards your goals. You can still love people and help people and impact other peoples lives.
Today you can make the choice to use the life that God has given you to love and influence other people. It is God who gives life, and no man can declare you dead.
I love this scripture Romans 4:17b He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.
There may be areas of your life that may appear to be dead. Someone else may have called them dead. But God can and will give them life. God brings things to life. God makes them alive. No man can declare dead what God has declared ALIVE!
You are not dead. You are alive. Live like it.
You can call us what you want. Do we teach…? Yes. Sometimes we re-teach. Over and over.
We also, more importantly learn. We learn lessons from each other. From our friends and family. From our students. From books. And from God. Sometimes we even learn from the toddler.
Sometimes we learn that we make mistakes. This summer we learned “mistakes are where the new learning goes” and now, that is what we teach. We teach it to our children at school and our toddler at home. We also try to re-teach it to each other.
Our goal for this blog is to share what we learn, completely aware that you too, will have to make some of your own mistakes.
Why charging rhino? I will save that for another post.
I remember when I first started on my career path. I came out of the U.S.Army in 1999 with no clear direction on what I was going to do. It truly was a case of stepping out on faith because within a few days I found myself in the local hospital in Fairbanks,Alaska filling an application for Environmental Services/Housekeeping. I was hired and so began what now has been a 14 year journey down a very interesting road. I worked hard on all levels and basically held every position within the Environmental Services during my career.
I refused to let anything or anyone tell me my background, where I came from or my skin color was going to be a factor in my success. Hard work speaks for itself and let me tell you it spoke volumes for me because I had a lot of it. Endless days it would feel like and I honestly remember my daughter being 4 years old and all of a sudden she was 10 years old because time had gone by so fast.I know what I was doing was for not only me but my family and sometimes one opportunity is all you get.
Before I knew it I was working for corporate America with a solid career being well on my way. I kept God first no matter what the circumstances and he blessed me with more and more opportunities. As of January 2013 I made Director of my own department which is the ultimate goal for most managers.
I praise God for everything he has done for me and mine through the struggles, trials and tribulations. All praise is due to him for working through some great people to help me along the way. At times it was hard but most importantly I had to continue to believe I could do it even though people like my wife always did. You have to got to believe in you even when the chips are down and know that God is still in control. He has not brought you this far to drop you off here. #Witnesssss
We are in the age of a digital society. We have the luxury of not even to have to leave our house to find out what’s going on in the world. Facebook is one of the many websites that people use to accomplish this. For Faith and Victory Church it is the main social media website that we use. Mostly because most of our members use it. As a Web Apostle we want to maximize the potential of Facebook to lead new people to our Facebook page and our website. Here is a short list of things we can do.
#1. Post a review/recommendation on our Facebook page.
Writing a review of our church on Facebook lets other people know that Faith and Victory Church is a great place to make their church home. The more reviews we have the more credibility our reviews have. So take a second think about what you like about Faith and Victory Church and write a review for us.
#2. Like the Faith and Victory Facebook page. This way you can see all the FVC Facebook updates, news, blogs, and sermon posts.
#3. Share sermons, blog posts, and videos. Comment on everything. Don’t just be a liker.
Facebook rewards people who are active. The more active you are the more your posts get seen and the things you think are important appear on your friends lists. As Web Apostles you can promote the activity of the church simply by sharing our content. This means taking one additional step that most people don’t normally do. Clicking on the share button rather than the like button.
It seems like a small thing but it is not. Sharing something is one hundred times more effective at having other people see whatever Facebook post you are trying to promote. It’s more effective because it actually posts it to your wall where as if you just like something it does not. Sharing FVC posts also takes a little bit more bravery. Some of your non-christian friends/family may not agree with the views of whatever you are sharing. They might even post a negative comment explaining that to you.
This is the part where I’m asking you to actually own being a Web Apostle. Everything up to this point has been easy. As Christians we are called to shine our light to the world. In many countries you can be killed for sharing your views on the Bible\Church. I’m not asking you to risk life or limb, but to be a Web Apostle you will probably at some point have endure some backlash on Facebook. While it can be uncomfortable it will help you grow in your faith.
I pray that you thoughtfully consider continuing to move forward as a Web Apostle with no reservations and help spread the word on Facebook.
