I’m thinking of you and miss that you are so far away. Do you remember when I was apart from God and family and how you wished I would return home? We talked about that the other day. I need you to know that now I want YOU to return home. Nothing else matters except that you too to be restored to God. I believe God will heal our family. Wouldn’t you agree that would be a good thing?
God knows all my mistakes and sin, and how I’ve hurt people, His people, along the way. Even though He had completely forgiven me, I wish I made better choices along the way. I am so blessed in how much my family forgave me and took me back graciously into their arms. That was a bonus, but not the reason why I sought out God to forgive me. I was born for reason. He created me with a purpose. I am seeking him, believing in Him, relying and trusting in Him, He is preparing me for His purpose.
The focus is not about our failures but rather what we do with them and how we move forward. God, who created us, longs to be with us forever. I encourage you to seek Him with all your heart and rest in His arms today.
I love you everyday.
People misquote this scripture all the time, “God will not put more on you than you can handle”. The scripture actually says, “There is no temptation that has taken you that is uncommon to man, but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be TEMPTED above which you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” This means that no true believer need to fall into sin because of temptation. God gives you adequate GRACE to overcome every temptation and resist sin. The true story of suffering is found in 2 Cor 1:8 “We would not have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were PRESSED OUT OF MEASURE, ABOVE STRENGTH, insomuch that we DESPAIRED even OF LIFE”. The truth is that a faithful believer, living in obedient fellowship to Christ and loved by Him, may yet undergo experiences that involve danger, fear and despair, and may encounter experiences that weigh one down beyond the human power of endurance. If you are pressed beyond measure, God has not forsaken you. He has not forgotten you. Sufferings come to all those in Christ. Allow Jesus to come near. Look to Him in faith. He gives more GRACE. He will see you through to victory. The truer statement would be, “God never puts more on you than HE CAN HANDLE.” He walks through the fiery furnace with you. You will come out victorious!

I closed my browser in anger. I vowed to never log on to Facebook again and I’ve had it with the arguing, endless selfies, political posts, and Pat Nelson’s video blog (j/k Pat love you).
I’m done with you Facebook you are a lie and a trap. You suck ALL my time and you give me NOTHING!
Or maybe, just maybe, I need to approach Facebook in a different way. What if Facebook wasn’t about me? What if I used Facebook as a tool not to promote myself but to the promote the Gospel of the one true God Jesus Christ? What would that look like? This is what I’ve come up with and it’s made my Facebook experience over 9000 times better.
Start posting Bible verses. I posses the most quotable, meaningful book that was ever written. Maybe I could share a few verses every week. Who knows it might inspire, comfort, or challenge someone. The Bible is funny like that.
Show love to other people and praise God on Facebook instead of focusing on my own misfortune. Not that I have to lie about how I feel but it doesn’t ALWAYS have to be negative. It might be good to break free and post some VICTORIES in my life. #DontForgetToThankGod #PraiseHimInTheStorm
Invite people to church events. Inviting people to go to church events can be intimidating, but I personally find it less awkward to invite people on Facebook than in person. At FVC we keep many of our events FUN AND LOW KEY. This is on purpose because when I invite people to events they will actually want to come. The pure joy that I experience when my friends see the love of God at FVC and appreciate it is so worth the awkward inviting stage. I just have to push past it. If I need help on learning how to do that CLICK HERE.
Check-In to church on Facebook. It’s so easy and it helps FVC so much. I guess if I’m going to take a selfie I should at least do it which checking into church. PS … while I’m doing that I should also silence my cell phone for the service.
Share every Sunday and Wednesday sermon. I attend a church where life changing sermons are preached every week (even if you don’t attend FVC you probably feel that way about your church too). There have been sermons that have changed the course of my life FOREVER. What if there was a way for me to share this message with potentially MILLIONS of people with just the click of a button (hint: THERE IS). It’s called making things “go viral” and that’s exactly what Facebook and I can do. All I have to do is take a few moments and share the sermon with a short comment about why it touched my life. #ShareWithTheWorld #MakeItGoViral
As Pat Nelson would say “I DARE YOU” to try it. I DARE YOU to not to have a pity party on Facebook or get involved in arguments this week. Only post verses, share church sermons, and love on other people. Hopefully it will change the way you look at Facebook. After the week is over let me know how it went. Love you all. Pastor Todd
