Pastor Steve Dalton was raised in Bellingham, WA and only remembers living at home with his father and mother since his two older sisters were already graduating high school and moving on at the time of his birth. His earliest memories include numerous visits to the hospital with his mother to visit his father who had his first major heart attack when Pastor Steve was 2 years old. Those heart attacks and hospitalizations came at the rate of 2 to 3 times per year until Pastor Steve’s father passed away when he was 14 years old. Because his father’s health was so poor, it was Pastor Steve’s mother that essentially worked full time and raised him. After his father died, one of his older sisters and her husband had to take the reins and guide him through his high school years. They were the youth leaders in their church and as such they steered what was then a rebellious teenager into church and the youth group. He was fully exposed to the Bible and Jesus and even attended all the youth meetings but secretly never really, seriously gave his life to the Lord.
After high school, Pastor Steve graduated from Western Washington University and completed Master’s Degree studies qualifying him to teach at the senior high school level focusing on psychology, history and English. He taught 2 full years of high school as a full time instructor before the void in his life finally began to overwhelm him. The age old question of “… what is the real purpose in life” could no longer be silenced by pursuing endless academics and impressing his professional peer group. After 2 years of teaching, he resigned and over the course of the next 7 years spiraled downward into every combination of drug and alcohol addiction imaginable. Then, at his lowest point, while “kicking” drugs in a mission in Bellingham, WA he was able to speak the name of a group Christians that he’d heard could lead the drug addicted and broken to the one place that “…what is my purpose” would finally be answered – JESUS!
The Director of the mission was finally able to locate this group in Seattle, WA, and get Steve into their care and on Easter Sunday more than 35 years ago, Pastor Steve finally gave his life to Jesus and began a 4+ year period of very focused discipleship. Pastor Steve went on to pastor and plant churches, minister in Federal & State prisons and county jails and serve as the CEO and Clinical Director for long term, Bible based residential addiction recovery programs throughout the Western States and lower British Columbia.
In the course of following the Lord’s calling, Pastor Steve married his wife, Dawn, in October, 2001. He had known Dawn as a friend in the church since 1984 and seen her stand strong raising two sons on her own while working full time and serving in the church. Only the Lord knew that he and Dawn would one day be man and wife, that she would be licensed and ordained and that the two of them would pastor and serve the Lord. Then, In June, 2013, Pastor Steve and Pastor Dawn were able to leave their ministries in the Lord’s hands and visit Faith and Victory Church for the first time. It was apparent from the very first meeting that FVC was the church that they were to settle in and make their home. He and Pastor Dawn serve whenever and wherever Pastor Matt and Pastor Crystal are led to call them to serve.
Here is a list of all Pastor Steve’s Sermons. Some of our favorites are highlighted below.
