THERE WAS A SHUNAMMITE woman who honored Elisha as a man of God. In return for her kindness to the prophet, God blessed her with a son. At a certain time, her young son died. She didn’t even tell her husband, but set her mind to run straight to the man of God, “So he (her husband) said, “Why are you going to him (Elisha) today? It is neither the New Moon nor the Sabbath.” And she said, “ It is well.”” II Kings 4:23 ”It is well”.
Have there been more faithful words? For she recalled God’s word of promise. She did not give herself over to fear or worry. She did not let doubt creep in. She did not tell anyone except Elisha, lest they fill her heart with fear. “IT IS WELL!” She proclaimed powerful words of faith in the face of a seemingly hopeless situation. Her son was dead, but even death could not stop her from running to her miracle.
What’s stopping you? What words do you speak out when faced with affliction? Words are powerful. Are you speaking God’s word of life? Or do you speak fear, doubt and destruction? Do you grumble and complain? What are you putting in your heart? Beware!! Your words will reveal what’s in your heart. Can you truly proclaim, “It is well”?
“When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul” #runyourrace
