IT IS OK TO LET Absalom be an Absalom. King David did. Absalom represents a spirit of rebellion that infiltrates people who want their own way; selfish ambition. An Absalom thinks he deserves to be king, and so he rebells and usurps authority. Absalom has no desire to honor any authority in his life, and will never recognize a David. Absalom is full of pride and pushes his way, his spirit is agressive and dogmatic. If someone wants to betray you and talk bad about you, let them.
I tell my children this all the time, a friend sticks closer than a brother. If they don’t stick to you, they’re not a friend. True friendship is rare. We live in perhaps the most selfish generation that’s ever existed. Selfish ambition is everywhere: on the job, in your home ruining your marriage, in our country, in the church destroying its unity, “For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of evil and vile practices.” James 3:16
Here’s what you DO do: do not bow down to this spirit, it will run all over you. Rise up by the Spirit of the Lord and in His authority command that spirit to leave. Intercede for the person(s) to be humbled and return to Jesus before destruction comes upon them. Apply the blood of Jesus to the doors of your home, city, church, job; wherever that spirit may be active. You are commanded to overcome, by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. #runyourrace
