Americans promissory note has been recalled 2 Chronicles 7:14
- 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
- Solomon is dedicating the Lord’s temple and this is a response from God regarding Solomon’s prayer
- It also comes with a warning – if the people of Israel turn away from God and embrace idolatry and wickedness, God will remove His presence and protection, leading to judgment and exile.
- Growing up in Kenya, I had a desire to come to America. (My mom ) – I said – Coming to America to drive fast cars – I have had my share of those
- Over 25 years ago-I made that Journey through the help of my family
- Many people have longed to come to America – the land of the free, where opportunities are limitless
- And many lives have been changed for those who have made it. There is an appeal to come to America regardless of the political or the economical temperature
- Have you ever wondered why?
- Why is it that even as a small boy, with very limited knowledge did I not desire to go to UK and instead I and others desired to come to the USA?
Nation under God
- Here is what I know- it wasn’t until I had close relationship with Christ that I learnt that this place I longed for was a blessed land
- Our founding fathers had known the secret and George Washington said it best;
- It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favors. ~ George Washington
- I didn’t know that there was promissory note that was attached to the success of this country
- I am in the real estate business and in general there are only two ways to own the home you live in, — You either buy it cash or you have someone secure the note/loan …you can live here, however you need to pay your obligation – an action is required for you to maintain that property
- At anytime the lender can recall that note and ask for the full payment – but for most part, if you keep the end of you promise, then all is well otherwise, you loose you home
- There is a covenant, an agreement that has to be upheld
- Here is the kicker, no matter how much you decorate the home, change the colors, invite friends, or even build additional dwellings – if the banks call back the note, all that stuff you’ve built becomes a waste
- We see this with the Israelites, that God rescues them from Egypt, gives them great lands and prosper them, but when they walk away from God, then they are plundered worse than they plundered the nations they conquered
Nation under Judgement
- Unfortunately, America just like Israel has decided that she is grown up – It’s that “I will take it from here mentality” – I will build my foundation / wokeness
- March 30, 1863 – Abraham Lincoln said – We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving Grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!
- This has caused a breach in contract and Americans note has been called up
- We have tramped on what is Holy and elected idols in all high places
- Matthew 12:29 (Nkjv) – Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.
- What you see today in America is a country under judgement – Look at the fall of Israelites
- Deu 7:9-11 (Nkjv) Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; 10 and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not [a]be slack with him who hates Him; He will repay him to his face. 11 Therefore you shall keep the commandment, the statutes, and the judgments which I command you today, to observe them.
- Thomas Jefferson said – Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have remover their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever.~
- America is in trouble and so are you! – welcome to Sunday sermon / Happy July 4th
Now what?
- Do we start self-preserving, complaining about the country and leadership? Do we kick back and wait for dooms day
- Do we quit our jobs and go protest everyday until others know that the day of judgement is here?
- Listen- we still need to do our civil part, go out there and vote, speak out against evil, there are those who have been called to fight in the front lines – please continue to do that
- However, that is not the only thing that we ought to do
- Our country can still be saved – we have Bible evidence, but a price is required – we have to labor
Story of Nineveh
- There is a story in the Bible of a city called Nineveh
- Johan 1:1-2 Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.”
- Jonah is disobedient, he tries to run away but the ship gets in trouble, he is thrown into sea, the Lord sends a fish that swallowed him and he is delivered exactly where the Lord needed him
- Super cool story but we concentrate so much on the whole belly of a whale which is a super cool part but sometimes we miss what the real story was about
- This is a story of redemption – a “great city” just like America, the rebelliousness had reached God’s ear
- Just like America Nineveh promissory note had been recalled and Jonah had been ordered to go and collect
- Nineveh didn’t try to edit the contract and say that some parts were not relevant to todays- that those were rules for the old times, and they don’t apply today
- The people choose to repent
- Jonah 3:5-10 ( Nkjv) So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. 6 Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his [b]nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water. 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let everyone turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. 9 Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish? Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it
- What can we learn from the people of Nineveh?
- That it is true – 2 Chronicles 7:14 (Nkjv) if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
- Everyone took it seriously and from the leaders to the animals – prayer and fasting was called into action
- Your relationship with God WILL determine future of our nation- Your heard me right
- Your relationship – yes you, sitting on aisle 5 chair number 7 at Faith and Victory this Sunday morning
- Here is why – Because, if you have your relationship right with Christ:
- He will hear you! – You will be in unity with Him – His will be your will (Change in you)
- He will use you to bring your family to Christ
- Joshua 24:15 (Nkjv) As for me and my family we will serve the Lord – It starts with you, then the family
- Then you family will join in with another family – and the two family will seek the Lord together
- Then this wave of truth gets bigger and other families that have their homes in order will do the same
- Soon, we have a strong church, a church that will rise up and pray fervently, and the prayers of a fervent prayer avails much
- Strong churches will seek the Lord in Spirit and Truth (Gods truth, not our own truth)
- 2 Chronicles 7:14 (Ampc) And the truth of His Word will prevail that: If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
- And this is where we now see this snowball effect – where a revival begins – even our leaders hearts will be turned to God and the decision that they make will be beneficial for the body of Christ
- I hear you skeptical saying, that sound simple…. and indeed, its simple
- The story of Nineveh, tell us so – that if we America can have a heart change, then God will relent His anger and heal our land
- But here is the litmus paper – “your test” What kind of relationship do you have with God?
- In 1 King 17: Elijah calls for a draught Story of Elijah – He called the draught even though he would be part of it ( temporary resident of Gilead)
- Is your relationship with God strong that He can ask you to call judgement on a place /thing, that you know will affect you directly – and you do?
- Can you be as faithful as He is?
- 1 Kind 17:2(Nkjv) -And the word of the Lord came to him: 3 “Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. 4 You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.
- What is God asking you to do today?
- But the greater question is – would He even use you? Does your relationship with Him warranty you to be a candidate? Are you usable?
- Is your house in order? – your own relationship with God – Pastor Allan spoke about that prayer time with God – Time to build relationship?
- I was so happy when He spoke on that – Man, he said “all over the world, prayer meetings are the least attended – an appointment with God is ignored. He said that weddings and stadiums are all filled but not prayer meetings.
- This shows that it’s the events are the issue – Matthew 22 – the kingdom of heaven – Jesus invited people to a wedding – they didn’t show up- I think that the real reason is that don’t want to spend time with Jesus
- Do we have a constant meeting appointment with God, or do we wait until our notes are recalled and we scramble to get an appointment – “God remember me” Depart from me I never knew you” Ouch!
- If we don’t spend time with God, we will not be aware of the times we are living in
- Matthew 24:37-40 (NLT) In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. 39 People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes. “Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.
- How are we going to acknowledge where American is, if we can’t first acknowledge our lack of relationship with God
- For me and my house – We will serve the Lord – The Me part has to be on point – We cannot be the blind leading the blind
- Get your house in order people, this is a time of awakening
- Nineveh – no one eats even the animals – this wave has to build up from individual to the entire city
- I love that they took it very seriously – They even had animals clothed in mourning clothes and fast
- I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback- and I have taught him that we must pray before food – Imagine me calling him over – empty dish, Zuri lets pray
- When is the last time you fasted and prayed, then asked your family to fast and pray, then joined a church to fast and pray?
- The sad part is the same things that are keeping us busy from spending time with God, will be the same stuff that be hauled away when judgment is called
- In 1 King 17 – Israel falls into the hands of the Assyrians – when the note is called not only did they take their possessions, they took the people captive
- Let us first be concerned with the things of God – that true relationship – Spend time in prayer and in His word
- Then our hearts will break for what breaks God heart – The lack of repentance of a country
- And when we do that, God will sustain us, empower us, protect us, provide for us even during this times of great judgment
- Let me show you something so cool
- 1 King 17:1 (NLT) Now Elijah, who was from Tishbe in Gilead, told King Ahab, “As surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives—the God I serve—there will be no dew or rain during the next few years until I give the word!”
- James 5:17-18 (NLT)Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! 18 Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.
- Elijah was a man just like you!
