A LUKEWARM CHURCH MUST be shaken. History has shown that God’s people adapt more to their culture than to the ways of God. This is being revealed right now in our society. The church looks more like the world than a separated and consecrated people.
The last church of the ages will be lukewarm. It is an apathetic, indifferent church with one foot in the world and one in the kingdom. It’s a church marked by, “I can do what I want”. In fact, the name “Laodicea” means “judgment of the people”, and this is the prevailing spirit and sentiment of this church age. Jesus gives no admonition to this church, only harsh rebukes and a imperative warning to repent.
Yet, history has also shown that God’s people will only repent through affliction. King David said, “It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I might learn Your statutes.”
Psalm 119:71 It is GOOD to be afflicted! Affliction reveals your idols. It should draw you to His throne of grace and a return to His unfailing Word. Fall down in repentance, mourn for your sin of self, let your tears cleanse your face and purify your heart. God is near to the broken hearted! Affliction produces perseverance; for you will need endurance to finish your race.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18 NKJV
