VANITY, VANITY. VANITY is recognizing only the accomplishments or appearance of oneself without the humility to appreciate the merit of others, including God. The Bible refers to these vain people as “scoffers”. “They told you beforehand, In the last days there will be scoffers, following after their own ungodly passions. It is these who are setting up distinctions and causing divisions–merely sensual [creatures, carnal, worldly-minded people], devoid of the Spirit and destitute of any higher spiritual life.” Jude‬ ‭1:18-19‬ ‭Sadly, scoffers abound.

A scoffer twists and undermines God’s Word in vain declares, “God killed people, so can we”. Scoffers say, “do not judge”, yet they judge the Creator by their limited knowledge. They misdirect people by their fallible interpretation and proclaim, “did God really say?” A scoffer has no true desire to hear and to understand, but only to be heard. They cannot be taught the truth, vanity refuses it. They might claim to know a “Jesus”, but they mock at sin, teaching grace as lasciviousness. They take His name in vain, proclaiming to be “in Christ”, but living in sin. They mock anything that is holy and sanctified to the Lord, including the church of the living God. The mocker rejects, twists, adds to and takes away from God’s holy Word.

What do you do? IF you can’t change their mind, you must avoid them, else they lead you astray. Keep your heart pure from their poisonous arrows. #runyourrace
