“For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.”
II Corinthians 10:18 NKJV
Rather than praise ourselves or seek the praise of men, we should seek to be exalted by God. Rather than approving of ourselves or seeking the approval of men, we should strive to be found approved by God. Those who exalt themselves and lift themselves up set themselves against God and make Him their enemy, and they will be humbled by Him. “Incline Your ear, O LORD, and hear; open Your eyes, O LORD, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God.” (II Kings 19:16).
When Sennacherib came against Judah and King Hezekiah, he taunted them and boasted against the Lord. In his pride of all his victories and the size of his armies, he believed the battle was already won. Rather than give into fear, Hezekiah humbled himself before the Lord and gave the fight to Him, and the Lord showed Himself by sending an angel to slay 185,000 men in a single night. One day changed everything, pride became humiliation and defeat. “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time” (I Peter 5:6).
HUMBLE YOURSELF, or God will do it for you. Realize that apart from Him you are nothing, or He will show you this truth Himself. There will never be a time when we should glory in ourselves, “But “he who glories, let him glory in the LORD.”” (II Cor. 10:17). Can a lump of clay glory in itself? We are molded in the hands of God, how can we lift ourselves up rather than give all focus and glory to Him who holds us up and equips us? Remember the words of Jesus: “without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).#CalledtoBattle
