WHY DO THOSE WHO ATTACK you gather together? I really do not like FB. I’m not a social person in general, so I don’t even like posting pictures of myself or my family. It feels like a violation of my privacy. My husband loves the social interaction, and so I end up on FB a lot. It’s ok. I roll with it.
I would get off of this platform if I didn’t post my daily on here. I have a bunch of ladies who read it and are often blessed by this daily, so I keep doing it. I’ve done this for 10 years now, might as well keep posting.
This is what I despise about social media, anyone can make an accusation against you, and many do. Then when others see the accusation, they hop on the thread adding more insult to injury. Mind you, it’s a false accusation. They are only telling one side of the story, and that’s not even accurate 99% of the time. Their version is biased based off some offense and root of bitterness.
I recently got accused of “unfriending” someone because of a “difference of opinion”. This is not true. In 2019, I dropped over 2000 FB “friends” that I either did not know, had not talked to in years, had a real, face to face relationship with, or did not interact with them on social media. That person just found out recently. I had not had any kind of interaction with this person in over 12 years, perhaps longer. Not a “Hi”, not a “happy birthday”, not a comment, not a text, phone call or otherwise. Silence.
The only reason I saw their post was because my son saw it and was upset at how people were speaking of his parents. But here’s what I don’t understand. It’s the same thing David didn’t understand, why do “they gather”?
Why do people you have not seen or talked to in 12-15 years come out to gather against you? What kind of root of bitterness is in a person to gather against you after such a long time? I am under no obligation to the Lord, neither to social media to stay “friends” with people I have no relationship with. It’s a farce.
Please help me to understand. Because I don’t. “They gather together against the life of the righteous, And condemn innocent blood.”Psalms 94:21 “For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful Have opened against me; They have spoken against me with a lying tongue. They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, And fought against me without a cause.”Psalms 109:2-3 “All day they twist my words; All their thoughts are against me for evil. They gather together, They hide, they mark my steps, When they lie in wait for my life.” Psalms 56:5-6
“But in my adversity they rejoiced And gathered together; Attackers gathered against me, And I did not know it; They tore at me and did not cease; With ungodly mockers at feasts They gnashed at me with their teeth.”Psalms 35:15-16 “They gather”. In lawful terms, “They crowd into the courts of law to take part in the unjust condemnation of the just” or more generally, “They attack the life of the righteous.” Well, there it is.
Speak truth and they will gather against you. Love people, serve people, but preach the truth and you will be hated. Preach the Word of God and do not water it down and you will be despised and treated with contempt. Preach against people’s idols and they will attack you viciously. They will gnash on you with their teeth and others will quickly and unjustly gather with them. And here’s the most disgusting part, it is typically from those who call themselves a “Christian” that attack you. They loved and followed Jesus until He spoke things they did not want to hear and they were offended at His Word.
Rebuke a wise man and he will be wiser, but rebuke a fool and you get yourself a blot. Such wise and true words! Unfortunately, all it takes today is a public accusation and everyone who never liked you, or you had to correct gathers against you. At least Judas betrayed Christ on his own. He didn’t try to gather any of the other apostles to join in his conspiracy. He at least showed a little bit of integrity, even if he was motivated by greed. But are we not told,“knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,”II Peter 3:3
A “scoffer” is a mocker, one who jeers, to deride, express contempt. Yep. That about covers it. We are in the last days. People don’t want to hear sound doctrine. Offense is rampant. Lawlessness abounds. If they called the Master “Beelzebub”, they will call His servants more of the same. I’m good with these terms. I was chief of all sinners.
As Spurgeon said, “I am far worse than you think me to be.” Mockers- don’t fool yourself. You would have gathered with Korah against Moses during the rebellion in the wilderness. But I need to warn you- don’t gather with the scoffers. Stand far away from the mockers. You’ll find that the earth will open up and swallow you. These deriders show absolutely no fear of God. They have no fear of the judgment seat and that we will all give an account of our words, our actions and our heart’s motives.
I am very much aware of this sobering day. It is fast approaching. That’s why we forgive even when others don’t seek for it. We keep our mouths closed and put a guard over our lips. We guard our hearts. We don’t seek vengeance or our own form of justice. Let the dogs bark as you keep running the race set before you.
One day, everything done in the dark will be manifested. You will know who did evil and who did good. To those who are preaching the Word of truth and contending for Scriptural faith and good doctrine, keep on preaching. Shut your ears to the scoffers. Let the mockers mock. The world is not worthy of you. #runyourrace
