“As for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Go, serve every one of you his idols—and hereafter—if you will not obey Me; but profane My holy name no more with your gifts and your idols.’”
Ezekiel 20:39 NKJV
The other day, as we checked out at the home improvement store, the lady asked my friend and I if we were trustworthy because she didn’t want to count the stack of tile we had with us. I responded, “We’re Christians, yes we’re trustworthy” to which she said “Well, SOME of you…”.
What a heart-wrenching reality it is to realize that many who claim to be Christians are not truly following the Lord. They still serve the world and it’s pleasures, they profane (pollute, defile) the name of the Lord with their idols, “offerings”, and behavior. Which side are you on? You cannot serve two masters, if you desire to serve the Lord then you must leave your false gods and idolatrous ways behind you (Jos. 24:14).
If you will not obey the Lord, then remove His holy name from your lips, because you offend the living God with your lust and pride, your selfish pursuits and your false piety. You cannot serve God and abortion, money, sexual immorality (anything other than a man and a woman in a marriage covenant), or any other abominable act defined as sinful in the Bible.
“Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD!”
Joshua 24:14
