“And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.” Luke 10:39 NKJV
I love the passion and fire for God that people walk away with when they attend Christian retreats. I love hearing the stories of how God moves, how He speaks, the miracles and the presence of God. Still, it pains Him that this is the only time that many Christians will sacrifice to be in His presence. For many, this is the only time they prepare themselves for Him, or put forth effort to be STILL before Him. We make arrangements for kids, we plan ahead and sacrifice work and pay, we prepare our hearts for that weekend with Him, but once it’s over, our passion fades.
If you put such effort to be with Him then, why will you not do it in your own home? Martha invited Jesus into her home, but was distracted with serving and working so much that she didn’t take the time to simply sit at His feet and hear His words. How often do we do this same thing?
We invite God into our homes, we serve Him and busy ourselves with the cares of this world, and all the while He is patiently waiting for you to sit at His feet and hear Him speak. “And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.” (Luke 10:41).
Why are you worried and troubled with many things when all that’s needed is to be still and listen? It’s time to let go of the distractions, the comforts, and anything that keeps you from sitting at His feet. Don’t wait for a retreat to be still before Him, make time daily to do so. He is patiently waiting, but the time is short and our days are numbered. #CalledtoBattle
