DO YOU BELIEVE GOD? It’s really quite simple, either you believe the word God has spoken or you don’t. I’m not asking if you believe IN God; I’m asking if you BELIEVE God? The Israelites believed IN God- they knew He existed. They saw first hand His mighty miracles. They walked through the Red Sea on dry ground. They followed Him in the desert and were fed manna from the sky.
In 40 years, their clothes never became tattered or torn. That’s a miracle in itself. My clothes wear out in a year. They most assuredly believed IN God, but they didn’t BELIEVE Him. They didn’t trust Him or take Him at His Word. They continued to grumble and complain when they didn’t get what they wanted. They could not see beyond their current circumstances, failing to take as fact the Word which God spoke, “You shall inhabit the land”.
On the other hand, Paul BELIEVED God. In the midst of a great tempest and knowing he was going to be shipwrecked, but holding fast to the Word of the sent angel and his message that God would deliver him and all who sailed with him; Paul proclaimed, “But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss. And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship. For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Cæsar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.” Acts 27:21-25 KJV
Paul didn’t waver much in his faith. He took God’s Word as fact. Has God spoken a Word to you? He has spoken to me things over the years that I have written down so I can go back and read them and encourage my faith. He often speaks to me in words I don’t normally use, so I am forced to search it out and pray. I know my Lord’s voice and I follow Him wherever He goes. It is fact.
The Spirit of God wrote a Bible full of promises- but still you have to BELIEVE it will be even as He said. This is an unwavering faith and trust in His Word. Be warned: a double-minded man is unstable in all His ways and will not receive anything. Either it’s true or it’s not true. Jesus exclaimed in triumph, “IT IS FINISHED!” Translated in the Greek as a present particle, “It is finished and the works will continue”. Sin, death and all the works of the enemy overcame at Calvary. “It will be even as the Lord said!” Is this your victory cry? #runyourrace
