IF YOU ARE LOOKING for a bias, you will find it. If you are seeking to be offended, you will. If you eye everyone suspiciously to find inequality, you will see it. If you think everyone is against you and the world is keeping you down, they will. If in every conversation you seek to trap someone in their words, you will always be offended. The mind is powerful and if you let your imagination run wild, it will. If you give heed to fear and propaganda, it will consume you and eventually overtake you.
The world is screaming at you that all is unfair and you have been wronged and if you believe the voices, you will become a prisoner of your own thinking. The victim mindset is prevalent in America and the powers that be want you to feel guilty for something you have not done and never taken part in. They want half of us to believe we are oppressors and the other half to believe they have been oppressed. Guess what? You chose what you think about. You chose what you listen to. You chose to be offended. You have a choice in the matter.
You may have been a victim as a child, but at some time you had to grow up and take responsibility for your own actions. You will stand before Jesus alone and give an account. On that day, the defense of, “But they did this to me!” will not be permitted in the heavenly court. There’s NO WHERE in Scripture that God embraces the victim mindset. In fact, even psychology teaches that it is an acquired way of thinking. You have not so learned in Christ.
Scripture overwhelming declares that we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. We are able to overcome all things, all circumstances, all fear, all pain, all suffering, all prejudice and unrighteous. All means all. But you are going to have to change your mind and begin to see things through the eyes of the Master. We are transformed by renewing our mind to come into agreement with His Word. Perhaps you crave the attention that playing the victim brings? This is quite common among the victim mindset, but it is detrimental to you and will destroy any amount of victory.
Here’s a few tips: get over yourself. We are all shot, keep driving! We have all experienced pain, suffering, and unfairness; you’re not getting out of this life unscathed by life. Whom are you looking to? You can look to Jesus and He will calm all your fears and provide strength for the journey, or you can look to others for pity and remain in your slop. The choice is yours. Choose wisely. Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Control what you think about and choose to believe the best. Choose to believe people are for you and not against you. Choose to believe you can overcome a sin. Choose to believe you are more than a conqueror. Choose life. “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone.
The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”Philippians 4:4-9 ESV#runyourrace
