I AM NOT CALLED to that. Half way through yesterday’s run my husband says to me, “I’m not called to this run. I’m quitting”. I about died laughing. How many times have I heard people say this very phrase? “I am not called to serve in the children’s ministry.” Oh really? But you are called to sing solos? We actually had a lady get offended because she said her ministry was singing solos. We told her to join the worship team; to which she answered, “No”. She was not called to the worship team. Her calling was to sing solos. I am not lying.
Are people really that deceived? Yes. In 18 years of church planting ministry, people are really that deceived. I am not always sure the spirit behind this attitude. Sometimes it’s pride, a need to be seen and accepted, jealousy, people’s approval, and the list goes on. You do not have to be seen by people to be seen by God. You do not have to be heard by people to be heard by God.
You do not have to be loved and accepted by people to be loved and accepted by God. In fact, the Lord says quite the opposite,“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”Colossians 3:23-24 NKJVYou do not have to be “called” to serve. Just find someone to serve.
Perhaps you should start in the first place that you do not get recognition- your family. Just serve your family and don’t say a word. Serve your spouse with joy and keep your lips zipped. Serve your kids without complaining. Serve your parents and in-laws with a gentle and quiet spirit. It takes us all working together to make the body work properly. You don’t have to feel like it. Just do it.
If you want and seek recognition, then ask yourself “why?” Why do your need recognition? I had a different lady get offended because she had a “prophetic word” and the pastor didn’t ask her to share it. This was during a celebratory service for our new building and we had multiple speakers. Afterward, she contacted me to tell me of her offense. I met with her and asked her to share her word with me. She did. The “prophetic word” she shared was not for the whole church. (It was not even a prophetic word) She just wanted to be recognized before the congregation.
You should be very wary of teaching, preaching or prophesying anything publicly anyway. (This includes your public media posts). The Word of God must be handled with great care. Do not presume to speak on behalf of God, when God has not called you to the public arena. In this case, you may say, “I am not called to that”. “My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.” James 3:1 NKJVYou are also not called to sit idly on your butt. Know your station and stick to it.
Operate within the gifts and talents God has given you. Serving, giving, helping, cleaning, providing for, feeding, caring for and taking care of others knows no boundaries. If you have a word of wisdom or knowledge for someone- go and find them and share it with them. It does not have to be on a public forum. FB and social media prophets and teachers take caution. We have a stricter judgment. I take God’s Word very seriously, as do others I follow publicly.
If you call yourself a prophet and you are not preaching repentance in this season; you are deceived. There’s a huge contingent of Hebrew Roots Movement people leading people astray, pretending to be teachers. They are modern day Judaizers. “Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh.” Phil 3:2 Whom are you doing it for anyway? Make peace within yourself to be seen by an audience of One. To this purpose, you are called. If God calls you to the public arena, He will raise you up and opens those doors. Others will confirm His calling. And one more thing, never ever ever quit running the race. #runyourrace
