I CHANGED MY BODY COMPOSITION when I changed the way I thought about food. 22 years ago I transformed my body to have more lean muscle and less body fat. I did this by lifting weights and using food to stimulate growth hormone. I read a book referred to me by a bodybuilder and the author wrote, “not every meal has to be a hedonistic pleasure explosion in your mouth”. It changed the way I viewed food. I had to look at food as fuel for my body, not pleasure.
The author actually transformed his eating by telling himself that good food was good for him and bad food was bad. So, he would eat a vegetable and at the same time tell himself, “This is good for me.” Then he would eat a candy bar and tell himself, “This is bad for me.” Eventually, he began to eat better, healthier food and stay away from sugar, desserts and bad food choices.
You will never transform your body without changing what you eat. Good food choice is 85% of the transformation process. Why? Because you change from the inside to the out. What this author had tapped into was what God has always known, your thoughts will transform your life, for good or for bad. The mind is an incredibly powerful tool. If you are to have ANY victory over the enemy and your flesh, you MUST transform your thinking. Transformation is from the inside first and then to the outside.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2
“Don’t eat a stingy person’s bread, and don’t desire his choice food, for it’s like someone calculating inwardly. “Eat and drink,” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.”
Proverbs 23:6-7 HCSB
Another translations reads, “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he” or “so he becomes”.
What we think about a thing, what we have in our heart and mind and not what we say, is what we believe and will eventually act on. We become what we think about and dwell on. From the inside to the outside. If this author, as a nonbeliever, could transform his body; how much more can a Spirit-filled believer be transformed by the renewing of the mind and the through the power of the Holy Spirit?
You have no excuse.
You have been given everything you need; but God won’t change your mind for you. YOU have work to do! We are born again of the Holy Spirit and will begin to see and hear differently; but we retain the old mind with its old thinking and habits. It must be renewed and transformed. This is where the discipline of the flesh kicks in. Root out wrong thinking and lies, and replace with God’s Word. Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. You may look put together on the outside, but if your thinking stinks, it will eventually be made known.
Every time you ingest the Word of God tell yourself, “this is good food” and every time you ingest evil and damaging thoughts tell yourself, “this is bad food”. This is an ongoing process until God’s Word, not your own feelings about things, becomes the truth in your heart and soul. God is making us holy as He is holy starting with the inside then to the outside. Let Him. I know and am fully convinced that through Him, we can overcome all things. You are not a victim and stop blaming the devil. Take authority over your feelings and emotions. Otherwise, you will continue to be a prisoner of your mind.
“Therefore, having these promises, (ALL His promises and ALL His help) beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” II Corinthians 7:1
