CHARACTER MATTERS. I don’t care what great miracles you do for God if you don’t have integrity. I don’t care how many you lay hands on and heal if you do not love the Truth. I don’t care if you speak in tongues and prophecy if you are unkind and greedy. YOUR CHARACTER MATTERS.
Look at the life of Samson. He had many great exploits for God. The Spirit of the Lord came mighty upon him for the taking down of Israel’s enemies. He was empowered with the Spirit, yet he lacked integrity. He did not anchor his life on the Word of God. He showed an utter lack of concern and respect for God’s commandments. He was prideful and boastful. He disrespected his parents and rejected his heritage in order to fulfill his own desires.
SEE, you can have gifts of miracles, signs and wonders, but if your character stinks than none of that matters, it’s what King James calls “dung”. “And in all things show yourself to be an example of good works, with purity in doctrine [having the strictest regard for integrity and truth], dignified, sound and beyond reproach in instruction, so that the opponent [of the faith] will be shamed, having nothing bad to say about us.” TITUS 2:7-8 AMP
All throughout scripture, good character is commended far above any gift or work for the Lord. Let the Spirit mold you and shape you. Kill the flesh and walk according to the Spirit. Die to yourself and selfishness. Walk in the Truth and do not be conformed to this world. Let your “YES” be “YES” and your “NO” be “NO”.
Have integrity. This is the call of the Christian. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
I don’t trust people who are inconsistent. The double minded man is unstable in all his ways. I don’t trust people who are argumentative and divisive. “Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.” (Romans 16:17).
I don’t trust self righteous, arrogant or boastful people no matter what your service looks like. I most definitely do not trust the liar. Better a thief than a liar. All liars have their place in the lake of fire. Your character matters. I don’t have fellowship with people who hold bad doctrine and refuse to be corrected. I don’t fellowship with those who mock the church, degrade God’s Word and treat the house of God as a common thing.
Paul said, “I die daily”. What did he die to? Himself, his wants and desires. We are told to seek things above, not on this earth. This world is not our home. Crucify the flesh and walk in the Spirit. Then you will not live according to the flesh. Character matters. Seek to know God’s ways with all your heart and let His Word dwell in you richly with all understanding. #runyourrace
