I SEE SO MANY PEOPLE that fall as soon as even a minor speed bump arises. The first “offense” sends them soaring into a major fit. So many church hoppers that Peter Cottontail would be offended. I get it. We live in an autonomous culture, even the smallest rebuke or correction wounds a fragile ego. But these are just symptoms of something deeper. The Word of God is under attack, sadly even among those called by His name. People hurl accusations at those who hold fast to His Word, calling it “legalism”. “Don’t tell me what to do” is today’s cultural calling card. And yet, there is a way to never be blown about like a rag doll in the wind, “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.” Psalms 1:1-2 I love Psalm 119, it’s all about David’s love for God’s Word and in verse 165, he proclaims that “NOTHING offends those who love God’s Word”. There IS a way to NEVER be offended. TURN from bad and evil company/association and dive into God’s Word. Stop asking everyone’s opinion and find out what God says. Turn off the tv and get your nose in the Bible. Don’t ask, “Where’s Waldo?” But ask, “Is God in this?” Sit under Biblical preaching and be corrected. Learn submission. Apply the Word to every area of your life and you will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water bringing forth good fruit for His kingdom.
