CLEANSED

CLEANSED

I HOPE YOU BATHE DAILY! The tabernacle had a bronze laver for cleansing the priests before they entered the Holy place. There was a one time overall cleansing, but then an everyday washing of the hands and feet. The laver was made from polished bronze that the women used as a mirror.

This was a picture foreshadowing Him who was to come, that is Jesus. When you are born again, there is a one time, overall cleansing. The blood of Christ cleanses you from all your sin and you are made a new creation. BUT there is an everyday cleansing that needs to continue, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.”‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:25-27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Word of God is a cleansing agent. It’s a place where we go everyday to prepare ourselves to enter His presence. The Word is a mirror to show us our true nature. There are still things that need to be cleansed and refined: our selfish nature, pride, developing character, purified thoughts, what our eyes see and ears hear, who we are spending time with, and much more.

1 John 3:3 tells us, “whoever has this hope in Him purifies himself”. Which means if your hope is in Christ, then you have an obligation to examine yourself according to the Word of God daily. When we read Scripture or sit under Biblical preaching of the Word, we are to look at ourselves soberly and inspect closely the areas where we might be missing the mark.

When we read a Proverb a day, we apply God’s wisdom and correction in order to not look like the fool. When we read the prophets, we look to the example of Israel as to not follow their same path of destruction. When we read an epistle, we receive instruction and correction in righteousness. We apply the fear of the Lord and let the Spirit make us holy, cleansed and pure.

Hopefully, you shower most days or bath in a body of water. If not, you’ll start stinking fairly quickly. Spiritually speaking, you have a daily cleansing routine as well, otherwise you start stinking. Allow God’s Word to cleanse you of all stink. Cleanse and change those things His Word reveals. Be an obedient child- don’t pick and choose what Scriptures you like and do not like.

The Word is a mirror- don’t walk away and forget what you look like. “Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” James‬ ‭1:21-25‬ ‭#runyourrace
