THERE ARE THREE THINGS YOU can control: what you think, what you say, and how you behave. You cannot control the blowing of the wind neither the direction of the storm. You cannot control the price of a gallon of milk as much as you cannot control the actions of another. There’s much out of your control, but here’s what you can control- your thought life.
What things are you dwelling on? What are you ruminating on? What are you putting into your spirit man? What ungodly programming are you filling your thought life with? It’s not benign. You can control the words coming out of your mouth. Are you speaking life to your situation, words of faith and the promises of God? Let me give you a clue- garbage in equals garbage out. Fill your spirit with tv, fearful news and godless books and that stuff comes out of your mouth.
You also control how you behave. Stop saying, “I can’t stop *this behavior”. The truth is you can stop; you do not have to go there, do that, act a certain way. Your past, present or future only dictates your actions as much as you allow.
You can react or you can choose your response. Just ask Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl. This process is called “self-control”, it takes training in discipline and is a fruit of the Spirit. “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,” Titus 2:11-12 A Christian is not a victim in a fallen world, but overwhelming, more than a conqueror. Are you displaying a conquering life? #runyourrace
