COVER YOUR CRACK. Yesterday at the gym there was this guy revealing a little too much and I said to my husband, “Doesn’t he feel that breeze in the back?” Surely, he knows he is exposing himself. Or maybe not? Maybe he’s just oblivious. Either way, he needs to cover his back side. I preached on this a few years ago- I see way too many Christians like this- exposing a huge crack for the devil to just run through and run all over them. Either they know and don’t care or they are completely ignorant they have a huge crack showing.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭

There’s a few things in this verse you should take note of: 1) you have an adversary. 2) this adversary is hungry. 3) your adversary seeks after the weak and unaware sheep. 4) he wants to devour and destroy your life. You should not take him lightly. We are supposed to not be ignorant of Satan’s devices- where is wisdom in your life?

“For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things. Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” II Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ ‭

The devil is your enemy and he is seeking whom he may destroy. Like a predator seeking and stalking his prey, he goes after the weak and lame sheep. The sheep who has his crack exposed: the one not reading his Bible and hiding God’s Word in his heart. The lukewarm sheep who isn’t daily in fellowship and prayer with Jesus and isolates himself from the church and the fellowship of the saints.

The disobedient sheep who dabbles with the world and despises the holy things of God like discipline and instruction in righteousness. The roaming and offended sheep, who hops from church to church, never under the authority of a shepherd and runs off at the mouth. The dumb sheep with itchy ears following false teachers. I’m so grieved by people blaming everything on the devil when they let him in by their disobedient and rebellious actions and letting their flesh control them. An undisciplined life is a wide open crack.

Give no room for the devil to devour you. Discipline your flesh, your mouth and take control of your mind. Separate yourself from people the Bible tells you to separate from. These are a hindrances to your soul. Get wisdom and discernment in the devices of your enemy in order that you do not expose yourself and give him place to run all over you.

“Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another. “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭25‬-‭32‬
