DO YOU LOVE DEATH? Maybe that’s a stark statement for you and you’re screaming out a resounding “NO!”; but on closer examination it could pertain to you. Hear this Proverb, “For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the LORD; But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; All those who hate me love death.”” Proverbs‬ ‭8:35-36‬ ‭Who is the “me” this is talking about? The wisdom of the Lord. So this Proverb literally reads, “if you despise and reject God’s wisdom, you love death”.

Death can be applied to many areas and facets of your life. Now perhaps it’s unintentional that you love death, but the fact is you have access to God’s wisdom and you choose to reject it. Tragically, spiritual death comes to all who reject wisdom.

What is wisdom? The fear of the Lord is the beginning. If you do not fear God, death comes in some form because you refuse to turn from sin. Wisdom receives instruction from teachers, pastors, elders, authority. When you reject instruction, destruction comes. Reject instruction in marriage and death to that marriage can result. Wisdom hates evil, the prideful man, the arrogant man, the lying and slandering tongue. When you do not love wisdom by putting away all evil, all lying, all evil associations with the prideful; then death comes in some form of destruction. Get the picture? If you’re not operating in wisdom, it’s not too late. Ask God for wisdom; He gives to those who ask. Study the Word of God daily and apply wisdom to your life. Surely you do not want to love death.
