DESTRUCTIVE PRACTICES ARE ROOTED in our heart; not from what has happened to us, but happens IN us. “For from WITHIN, out of the HEART of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from WITHIN and defile a man.”” Mark‬ ‭7:21-23‬ ‭This is quite contrary to society’s thinking. The heart of man is not good, it’s evil. Therefore in order to please God, one MUST be born again and receive a new heart. You have to stop trying to heal the symptoms and heal the ROOT cause- a wicked and deceitful heart. What’s been done to you does NOT have to affect your behavior, IF you have a new heart. You cannot make the outside holy until the heart becomes holy. You can clean up a person as much as you like, you can even take them out of their present circumstances, but until the heart changes, bad behavior won’t change. Addictions just switch. Go ahead and argue with Jesus and you’ll find yourself fighting the wind. A person will just continue to do things in secret away from your eyes. What’s IN your heart? Maybe you’ve been born again, then ask: what things am I putting in my mind that are making their way into my heart? Have a truly submitted *this to the Lord? Stop living on your emotions and submit your thinking to His Word. Tozer said, “If Jesus is not controlling all of me, chances are very good He’s not controlling any of me.”
