WHAT YOU PUT IN, is what you will get out. I just started a new workout to gain more muscle. I’m terribly sore. To gain muscle, you have to increase your workload, i.e. lift heavier weight. Ugh, so not fun. It’s the same with losing weight, you have to eat less and move more. You cannot just wish it, speak it and do nothing. To change your body mass, it takes diligent labor.
As it goes in the physical, so it goes in the spiritual. You cannot expect to be a spiritual heavyweight if you rarely read and study your Bible. You will lack power to overcome if you rarely are in prayer. Your faith will become stagnant if you are never under good, solid, Biblical preaching, “faith comes by hearing the Word of God”. You cannot say, “nobody likes me”, when you haven’t made a a true effort to be a friend. Everybody wants to be a Paul, and be used miraculously; yet rarely anyone wants to do the things that Paul did to discipline his flesh and bring it into subjection.
Listen to the words of wisdom, In ALL labor there is profit, but idle talk leads only to poverty. Proverbs 14:23 I cannot tell you how many times I’ve heard people speak idle, foolish words about how things are going to “change”, but they do nothing. Don’t say you are going to stop drinking and then keep alcohol in your home. The road to destruction is paved with good intentions.
It’s not enough to just want and wish for things- there is a diligent work that must be done. Believe God for the miraculous, YES! He is the Miracle-Maker. He is Wonderful and Awesome in all His work. He will open doors that no man can shut. Yet, you have to walk through that open door not sit and stare at it, waiting for someone to pick you up and drag you through it. He never said to be lazy. He opens the Red Sea and tells His people to go forth. He brings down manna and says to go out and collect enough for the day. He gives power to tread on the enemy, but treading takes action.
Overcoming takes endurance. Prayer is intentional. Studying the Word takes diligence. Fasting is an action word. Being led implies following. The words we long to hear of “well done good and faithful servant” imply faithfulness and serving, not idly sitting and doing nothing. Laziness is not a fruit of the Spirit. It’s time to get serious and get busy. God can change your heart, but He requires you to submit yourself as a living sacrifice and renew your mind to His Word.
You are to be actively involved with the will of God. Come out of that grave and take off your grave clothes. There’s work to be done!“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.”Luke 9:23-24 NKJV#runyourrace
