DISTRACTIONS. Some distractions are from our own doing, and some the enemy throws at us. A distraction can be a huge stumbling block if you are not aware of the distraction’s purpose. Paul dedicates a whole chapter to looking for a spouse and how it can be a distraction from serving the Lord, “And this I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction.” I Corinthians 7:35
I think we’ve all seen someone get side-tracked because they were focusing too much on wanting to be married rather than just living married to the Lord and waiting on Him. All this aside, the enemy loves to distract God’s people. If he can get you to “look over here”, you will miss the path you are supposed to be on. Ever miss your turn because you were too busy rubbernecking an accident? I have. This is the enemy’s business and he’s good at his job. He has people paying way too much attention to the nonsense going on in the world and they are missing what God is speaking- Repent.
Idols are being destroyed and God is shaking things up, separating the wheat from the chaff and I hear the voice of the Lord say, “Hold fast to my Word and do not deny My name”. Get your eyes off what might happen or will happen; keep them on the cross. Stay in His Word and at His feet. Keep your heart free from all bitterness and deceit. These are perilous times and you need to have eyes to see and ears to hear. A good thing is not always a God thing. Be aware of the enemy’s devices and tactics and serve the Lord without distraction. #runyourrace
