IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO something, then do it. There are a lot of people who talk about doing stuff, and there’s a lot of people who half way do something; but neither of these is good. “Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men,” Colossians 3:23
Here’s what you may not understand, service is important, but your customer is the Lord. It has to be all for Him, or none for Him. If it’s for God, it’s to glorify Him and it cannot be about pleasing people. Paul said, “if I lived to please others, I would not be a servant of Christ”. You cannot be concerned about being likable to people, but rather is your work accepted by God? And it will be accepted by Him, if it’s unto Him. If it’s for others, then their praise is your reward.
I think we lie to ourselves often, claiming our work is unto Him but often it’s for ourself, our own self esteem and praise; or it’s for another because we want their admiration. God knows the heart. We cannot fool Him or get anything by Him. Didn’t your mom ever say to you: “if you are going to do something then do it all the way”? If you’re going to enter a race, then you might as well run it the whole distance.
Let the words of your mouth be YES or NO. Either do it unto the Lord with all your heart, or not at all. Don’t worry about what others think about you. If it’s not for them, they why should you care what they think or say about you? Paul’s own churches spoke wrongful and hurtful false accusations about him. But nothing moved him. His mind was set and his race had been planned. He would not stop until he ran across that finish line. #runyourrace
