BRING AN OFFERING. The term “offering” is related to the verb that means “to draw near”. Therefore to present an offering to God, was to draw near in order to approach Him and fellowship, express thanksgiving and faith. Also, in order to draw near and make the offering acceptable, the person had to have a genuine heartfelt repentance and commitment to walk in God’s ways. It’s why the Lord spoke thus of His own people, “Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me,” Isaiah 29:13a
Jesus reiterates this sentiment in Matthew 15:8. God sees straight into the heart. It begs the question, are you bringing a defective offering to God? Do you come into the House of God and draw near, tell Him you love Him and sing a beautiful song; only to leave to go back to live life on your own terms? This is a defective offering.
You have no desire to honor Him or honor His Word, your desire is for yourself and what you want to do. Friend, the spirit of Saul is at work in your life. You think you’re OK because the Holy Spirit is still working and He will have His way, even in the face of your rebellion. God is not fooled. Do not look in the mirror and forget what you look like. It doesn’t matter what you say- examine and commune with your heart. Bring an offering, in a spirit of meekness and repentance, in order to draw near and have genuine fellowship with the King. Your words must match up with your heart. #runyourrace
