HE FORGIVES OUR SINS. The Lord has chosen to forgiven our sins, cleanse us from all iniquity and wash us white as snow: ““Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” Isaiah 1:18 ESV“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” Isaiah 43:25 ESV“For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.”” Hebrews 8:12 ESV“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
There is not a human sin that He will not forgive. (There is an unforgivable sin: blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. This is attributing the work of the Spirit to demons and ultimately to reject and insult the Spirit of grace. I will discuss this in doctrines of the Holy Spirit). For today’s lesson, I am discussing all other fleshly sins.
You cannot do so wrong that you can never be redeemed. Oh, you might feel that way; but your feelings are not truth. He makes sinners into saints, whores into housewives, murderers into menservants. The gospel that eradicates sin and makes new creations out of sinful men is foolishness to the world. He is the Author and Finisher of salvation. His rules, His ways. He has chosen to redeem sinful man by complete forgiveness through the blood of Christ. Any doctrine that teaches contrary to this is false. We are not sinners saved by grace— we were sinners and now we are saints, by His grace.
A new creation is just what Scripture says: a new creation where the old man has died to sin and a new man lives unto Christ. There is no sin too evil for Him to forgive, it’s only too evil in our minds. I know redeemed prostitutes, redeemed pedophiles, redeemed murderers, redeemed adulterers, redeemed drug addicts, redeemed witches…. and such were some of you, but now you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus.
If there was a sin He could not wash men of then the cross would be considered a “limited atonement”, but He provided full redemption for all men, for all sin, for all who repent and put their faith in His blood sacrifice. You don’t have to feel forgiven; you just have to accept it and appropriate it by faith. The just shall live by faith. I don’t always feel forgiven, since my life before Christ was marked by grievous sin; but everyday I walk it out.
I live forgiven by faith. Sin has no more control over me. I am a new creation in Jesus. If someone you used to know in your old life of sin tries to call you up to get you to go back to those old ways of sin, or rub your old sin in your face, tell them “mistaken identity!” You are not the man or woman you used to be. The gospel completely washes men of their sin in order to be a new creation in Jesus. Therefore, we are free from our old life of sin, but we are not free to continue to sin. Faith without works is dead faith- work our your salvation with fear and trembling. Faith produces obedience to the Word of God.
We are to put to death continually that old man, as he will try to rise from the dead from time to time. Have nothing to do with that old man of sin! Walk in the new creation He made of you. Separate from the world and wicked associations. Have nothing to do with those who continue to operate in darkness. Sin has no more dominion over the redeemed. *Remember, continual willful sinning after being sanctified results only in judgment. “Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”” Hebrews 10:38 NKJV#runyourrace
