STEPS TO APPLY WISDOM. Fret- to feel or express worry, annoyance, discontent, or the like. Another definition- gradually wear away at something by rubbing or gnawing. The idea is that “fretting” is a type of worrying and that it gradually wears away and gnaws at your health, sanity, and ultimately your faith.
I believe this is why time and time again the Bible tells us to “not fear”. There are many things to “not fear”- the rejection of man, or just “man” in general, what any man can do to me or say about me. Do not fear or fret about troubled times, chaos and confusion, what may come or what is to come. I read my Bible and I know the end. “Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.” Psalms 37:1 You are told not to fear or fret or worry because, “they shall soon be cut down like the grass”. But you must control what you think about.
Do current events keep you captivated and fretting? These thoughts are slowly eroding your sanity and faith in God. It’s a tool of the enemy. You are told to take these fretting thoughts captive and apply these steps of wisdom— trust in the Lord and do good, delight yourself in Him, commit your way to Him, rest in the Lord and wait for Him, cease from anger and forsake wrath, depart from evil and do good, speak wisdom and talk of judgment, put His law in your heart, wait on the Lord and keep His way, and He shall help you and deliver you from the wicked. #runyourrace
