““IF YOUR BROTHER, the son of your mother, your son or your daughter, the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, secretly entices you, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers, of the gods of the people which are all around you, near to you or far off from you, from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth, you shall not consent” Deuteronomy‬ ‭13:6-8a

Seems legit. But what’s God saying? IF your closest friend or even your own family tries to keep you from serving and obeying the Lord in any manner, shape or form; if anyone tries to seduce you to go back to Egypt, the sin that God brought you out of and purchased you as His own, have NOTHING to do with them. IF anyone seduces you to stay away from the body of believers, or to not read and study your Bible, they are NOT your friend.

A friend protects your past and your future in the Lord. A friend knows and understands that God and His ways come first and she would never entice or seduce you to sin against Him. A friend would never steer you off the path of righteousness, but holds your foot closely on it to protect your future. A friend calls you out and slaps you upside the head when you’re off the rails, it’s a kindness. Relationships matter. Be careful who you call a “friend”. #runyourrace
