GRACE TEACHES. “There are two kinds of people in the world—only two kinds. Not black or white, rich or poor, but those either dead in sin or dead to sin.”- Leonard Ravenhill
If the grace you say you’ve received has not changed you, it’s not the grace of the Lord. If the grace you said you have received does not teach you to turn away from your sin and fleshly lusts and desires, then it is not gospel grace. It is not good news.
The good news is that God not only forgives our sins, but sets us free from the bondage of sin. This is what grace teaches. As I have said, grace is a power source. It’s the “power of God on the heart and it’s affect in the life”, Greek Word “charis”.
Grace is the power to overcome. Grace is victory over sin!“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,” Titus 2:11-12 NKJV
Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness. This means that we call good good, and evil evil as it pertains to God’s Word and ways. Grace teaches us to love righteousness and hate iniquity. It means we live according to the Spirit, not our sinful flesh. Grace means our mouth and our actions are being taught to speak and walk like Jesus, in accordance with God’s holy Word.
His grace teaches us to live in spirituality not immorality. The grace that God gives is sober, not drunken and obscene. Grace is righteous, clothed in white; not stained with the filth of idolatry and sexual immorality. Grace teaches us to flee these things that stain and mar and ultimately bring destruction and at the same time cleave to what is good, holy, pure and true.
Grace teaches us to be pure and innocent, like obedient children of the Lord. Grace teaches us to not get attached to the world, that this world is not my home, so we can boldly say, “I’m just a pilgrim passing through.” This is the gospel grace that brings salvation. Is this the grace you’ve received? Any other grace taught is artificial and a counterfeit. #runyourrace
