THE LORD IS NOT WITH YOU.
The Exodus Israelites continually grumbled, complained and murmured against Moses and God within the first few days and months of the wilderness journey. The Bible records 10 times they tempted God by not listening and believing Him. God added one year for every day they spied out the promised land and brought back a bad report and slandered the land, causing the whole camp to be disgruntled- 40 years total.
So Moses told the camp God’s punishment and they “seemingly” were sorry; but their repentance was shallow, “And Moses said, “Now why do you transgress the command of the LORD? For this will not succeed. Do not go up, lest you be defeated by your enemies, for the LORD is not among you.” Numbers 14:41-42 NKJV In a momentary expression of trust in God, they ignored God’s warning and made the fatal mistake of believing they could posses the land without obedience and devoted fellowship to God. They were defeated.
Life lesson: the true riches of God’s covenant, a path that’s made straight and plans for a good future cannot be obtained without the obedience that comes from faith (Romans 1:5). Simply mouthing words of trust and feigning temporary sorrow is not adequate. God’s plan for you is good, but it also must be obeyed without grumbling and complaining. Go into battle on your own and you’ll find yourself defeated every time. #runyourrace
