For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example that you should follow His steps:
1 Peter 2:21
So often it troubles me to see so many lies being thrown about in the name of Christianity. So many false promises of a life without suffering and blessings without obedience. So many false gospels and false prophets, false teachers and false prophecies. It only takes a short time to find someone claiming to speak for Christ but preaching from the flesh.
When did we fall away from God’s holy standards? The church has bowed to the unholy idols of this world to please men just as Israel bowed to the false gods of their neighboring nations time after time. No act is more sure to bring the judgment of God on this nation than for His Bride to commit adultery in the sight of all. Why have we become so weary and discouraged in this nation, when the great majority have yet to resist sin to the point of bloodshed and persecution?
We have dwelt in comfort to the point of complacency, we consider an inconvenience to be tribulation and the loss of minor comforts to be our trials. Your ears have been tickled for too long, you sought comforting lies about wealth and prosperity, blessing and unity with the world! “For consider Him who endured such HOSTILITY from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.” (Heb. 12:3-4). Where have all the courageous and bold witnesses of Christ gone to? If the Master has endured such suffering, is it such a great thing for the servants to bear the same? If One so far above us all was treated with such contempt, should we expect different for ourselves?
And you will be HATED by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
Matthew 10:22
