HE KNOWS ME. He knows my rising up and my falling down. He knows my inward thoughts and the intents of my heart. He knows all my ways and the number of hairs on my head. He knows my hurts and my pains; my weaknesses and strengths. He knows me. In the late night hours when I’m wrecked with anxiety and doubt clouds my thinking, He knows me. When I awake and am full of hope and faith, He knows me.
This proclamation brought me great joy this morning, He knows me! “Now what more can David say to You? For You, Lord God, know Your servant.”II Samuel 7:20 NKJVSee, it’s not who you know, it’s who knows you. I’ve “known” a few famous people, that is to say I’ve had short interactions with them. I was at a wedding where there were a few NFL players and another wedding with an MLB player. I actually talked and had conversation with the baseball player. If I said his name, you would “know” him.
When I was a kid, I sat on the lap of Willie Nelson. I met Paul Stanley in a restaurant having dinner. None of these people know me. The problem with social media is that a lot of people that are my “friend” still think they know me. Most don’t know me, much less ever had a face to face conversation with me. But He knows me because I am His. I have sought His face time and time again and like Moses, have asked Him to show me His glory. I know that I know that I know, it’s down in my “know-know” that He knows me.
Does He know you? There’s multiple Scripture that tells us how we may be assured that He knows us. He knows those who follow Him, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 If you don’t follow Him and instead you follow the precepts of your heart, your desires and the world; He doesn’t know you. He knows those who practice a life of righteousness, “Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.” I John 3:7
If you live a life of sin, lying, cheating, greedy, speak with a perverse mouth, and the such as described in Galatians 5:19-21; He does not know you. He knows those who keep His commands, “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” I John 2:3-4 If you do not obey the Word of God, you do not know Him. He knows those who are His servants, “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” Luke 6:46 You cannot know Him as Savior without knowing Him as Lord. He is King of kings and Lord of lords. His Lordship means that as we live in His kingdom,
He has full command over our lives. What we do, where we go, what we speak is all in subjection to His kingship. He is God, we are not. If you are not submitted to Him as Lord, you do not know Him. Many follow a false Jesus and false doctrine. He does not know you, ““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” Matthew 7:21-23
Like King David, there is mercy if you fall; but for the truly repentant. You’re right, He knows your heart and that should scare some of you. If you find yourself in a precarious position right now because of your sin; cry out to the Lord for mercy. Repent and He will abundantly pardon. However, there are sins that will stay with you the rest of your life. Remember, the sword never departed from David’s house after his adulterous affair with Bathsheba. He lost his first child with her and war was in his own house until the day he died. Yet, God still knew him. Praise God!
I can lose the whole world, but He still keeps my soul. Make every effort to know Him, to seek His face evermore, to honor and obey Him all the days of your life, guard your heart with all diligence and pluck out your eye if it causes you to stumble. There is NOTHING worth losing fellowship with Him over. Those who He knows, rejoice! He knows you! And He is faithful to do all He said He would do. You are never alone. He will not leave you nor forsake you. He hears your cries and will answer your prayers. He has not forgotten about you. He knows you!#runyourrace
