MARTHA MARTHA. Typically I would tell someone to run through the pain. You cannot let anything hinder your run: no pain, no affliction, no persecution, nothing. Recently, I injured my Achilles’ tendon. I can run through the pain, so I’ve been running through the pain. But it’s not gotten any better, only more inflamed. There’s been days I literally could not walk it hurt so bad. The doctor’s prescription: stay off my foot for 3-4 weeks. This puts a damper on my style. Time to just rest. I get it, you don’t want to rest; but rest is needed.
If you are broken, you need to be healed before you get back in the race. Take a lesson from the ultimate too busy working, running her race Martha, not realizing the most important thing, “And Martha had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.” Luke 10:39 Martha wanted Mary to get up and help her serve to which Jesus replies, “Martha, Martha you’re too worried about serving. Mary has chosen that good part”. If you are a doer, take a word from the Master, serving is good and right but the better part is to sit at His feet and hear His Words.
Busyness can be a major distraction. Good is not always of God. One thing I learned a long time ago, working for God does not take the place of spending time with Him. You’ll never be made whole of you don’t sit in His presence and let Him heal your heart cause a broken heart will bleed over everyone it comes in contact with. Sit still, rest and heel! Pun intended.
