My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
The voice of the Lord is a beautiful thing, and I pray I never lose the awe and respect that accompanies knowing that I am far from deserving of that blessing. I once had someone ask me “How do you know it’s God’s voice you’re hearing?”, to which I responded, “The same way I know it’s my wife’s voice when I pick up the phone.” I know my wife’s voice in a crowd, I know her voice when she calls me from across the room. I know her voice when she speaks, because I’ve spent years developing an intimate relationship with her.
So it is with the Lord, I know His voice because I’ve spent years seeking Him, I’ve spent years pursuing a relationship with Him. I study the Bible because I desire to know Him more, I want to know everything there is to know about His character, His works, His desires. I take time to pray, and I take time to listen for His response. Too many believe Christ died for them, but don’t believe God will speak to them! Do we fully understand what’s been done, how much He desires us, the intimacy with the living God that’s available if only we would pursue Him wholeheartedly? “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jer. 29:13).
Is this you? Do you seek Him with your WHOLE heart, or do you seek Him enough to check the box? “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32). Christ died so that we could be reconciled to God, so that we could enter His presence and hear His voice. He desires to speak with you today, He’s opened the door to His presence through the cross! What’s stopping you?
