BROUGHT TO REMEMBRANCE. There is not a lot of doctrine taught about the Holy Spirit outside of the Pentecost/charismatic circles; but then inside those same circles there is a lot of wonkiness taught. Is anyone else tired of people always saying, “God told me”? Some use it as a means to not obey or come under the authority of leadership and some use it as a means to make themselves sound super spiritual.
I am done with the nonsense. I love the Holy Spirit. He is my guide into all truth. He is my constant source of Help. He is my Comforter and my Teacher. Here’s something no one ever talks about, He brings all things in relation to God’s Word to remembrance.
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26
What a beautiful gift! Recall of God’s holy Word. Recall of what the Lord has done for me so I may never forget. Total recall. What a blessing for those who do not necessarily have a great memory. He brings into remembrance Scripture, all things said and recorded. There are so many voices out there, worldly voices and demonic voices. If you are not careful, you will mistake a demon’s voice for the Spirit’s, especially if you run in some Pentecostal/charismania circles where everything is ethereal and spiritual and nothing is physical.
You are a spirit, but you live in a physical and tangible body. There is an universal spiritual church, but there is also a physical local body. Can we please do away with the goofiness? Some of you are not hearing from the Spirit, but you have let in demonic voices by your disobedience and rebellion to authority and refusal to submit to God’s Word.
Some have erroneously believed that God can only move in “uncontrolled”environments. What do I mean? I mean they reject an order of service because it “stifles” the Holy Spirit. Really? God opened the Red Sea I’m pretty sure He can move in an organized service when people are honoring and revering Him. Besides that, God is a God of peace and order.
“since God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, But everything must be done decently and in order.”
1 Corinthians 14:33, 40
He brings all of the Lord’s Word to remembrance. Therefore, if what you hear doesn’t line up with the Word of God, then it is not of God. If you say the Spirit told you to quit your job and wander, I’m going to call you out. The Bible says if a man doesn’t work, a man shouldn’t eat. If you say the Spirit told you to buy a new vehicle and get further into debt, I’m going to call you out. If you say that God told you that you could gather when you wanted, tithe where/when you wanted, avoid who you wanted to but spend time with others that you want to spend time with, I’m going to call you out. You are not hearing from the Lord, but another voice.
I am giving it to you straight: those gifts you have been given are not for yourself or the world, they are for the edification of the body of Christ. They are for the local assembly that God has placed you in. Stop reading Scripture through the lens of the cultural individual mindset. Scripture is read through the lens of being a part of the body of Christ. What you do/do not do affects the local temple you have been placed in.
“But now God has placed each one of the parts in one body just as He wanted. And if they were all the same part, where would the body be? Now there are many parts, yet one body.”
1 Corinthians 12:18-20
He brings all of God’s Word to remembrance. Now, if you feel unworthy, unforgiven and shameful and the Spirit brings to remembrance the words of Jesus on the cross, “It is finished”; then I’m rejoicing with you. You heard clearly from the Spirit. If God told you to step out of the boat and have faith to start a business, a new ministry, to leave all and go to a foreign land as a missionary; then I’m rejoicing and believing with you.
If God told you to crucify your flesh and repent for your sins and He will restore your life, then I’m rejoicing and believing with you. If God told you to go make right a destroyed relationship, swallow your pride and seek reconciliation; then I’m rejoicing and believing with you. If He told you He would heal your infirmity, open the Red Sea, bless the works of your obedient hands, or do the impossible; I’m rejoicing and believing with you. Please stop saying “God told me” when your life doesn’t line up with Scripture and your fruit is chaos and destruction.
