DID YOU KNOW THAT “INSPIRE” is Latin meaning”to breathe”? So, to inspire someone is to breathe into them. Think giving a dying person CPR. Breath gives life. “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” (Gen 2:7‬)

However, there is an “inflating” going on in the church and this is not the same thing. “To inflate” means “to fill with air or gas, to blow up”. You can over inflate something and pop it. Inflating produces big egos and a grandiose sense of self. Inflation causes big heads and small brains, and idolizes mankind above a Holy God. Inflating is about the man and his own ability.

Inspiration is about the Lord and His ability. Inflating puts it on you. Inspiration puts it on Him. Inflating puffs up the pride of man. Inspiration bows down in humility before an awesome and Holy God. Be very careful. To inspire is to breath God-life into someone and this only comes from the Holy Spirit and speaking God’s Word over them. “All Scripture is given by inspiration (God- breathed) of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” II Timothy‬ ‭3:16-17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Therefore, to inspire isn’t always what someone’s wants to hear, rather it is what they need to hear in order to breathe God-life into them. It is to speak God’s Word over their situation and pray according to the Holy Spirit. When someone is in sorrow, inspire them to trade in their heaviness for a garment of praise. When they are in sin, rebuke them and bring them back to to the Lord and inspire them to trade in their ashes for His beauty.

If shame arises, inspire them with God’s precious and holy Word, “You are a new creation in Jesus Christ”. When a person is in doubt, despair, anxiety or worry; inspire them with God’s peace and comfort. Breathe life into their circumstances. When they do not want to continue because the afflicted and narrow path gets too difficult; inspire them to not quit, no matter how hard things get and remind them that the LORD is in control. He holds us in His hands. He neither sleeps nor slumbers.

When you are down and discouraged, inspire yourself in the Lord. When an army is arrayed against you, inspire the troops with the courage of a young shepherd boy:“Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.” I Samuel‬ ‭17:45-46‬ ‭David knew how to inspire! Breathe God’s Words over your life today and others, in Jesus’ name. #runyourrace
