THE ASSYRIANS WERE THE TERRORISTS of their time and conquerors of all other nations, except Judah. Godly King Hezekiah would not give in to their threats. Rab-shakeh, captain of the Assyrian army, surrounded Judah and spouted off intimidation and slander,
“But the people held their peace and answered him not a word; for the king’s (Hezekiah) commandment was, “Do not answer him.”” II Kings 18:36
When the enemy taunts and jeers, tries to bully you into submission and publicizes the lie to intimidate you; do not answer him. Mind the words of the King of kings and do not answer them a word. There’s nothing good in a defending response towards hurling insults and false accusations; in fact you are not to respond according to Scripture and you need not. God is my strong Defender.
When I defend myself, I take away God’s right and authority to bring judgment.
It doesn’t matter what others believe about you. For if they believe the lie, then they never really knew you. If a false accusation can turn another’s heart against the truth, then shame on them. My slogan has always been: “it is none of my business what others think or say about me.” I’m too busy working for the Lord and attending to the needs of the altar. Arrows pointed at the heart have to be resisted by the shield of faith.
The enemy uses intimidation tactics to keep you from doing all God has called you to do. I learned a huge lesson in 2019 when people’s accusations almost destroyed me: the devil doesn’t have to destroy you, just render you ineffective for the kingdom of God. You do not have to have destruction like that of Job. The enemy only has to get you in a position of surrender. If the devil can make you depressed, bitter or apathetic; he’s gotten the victory over you. Don’t allow the devil place in your life.
““Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.” Ephesians 4:26-27
Do not believe the lie of the false accusation. The Greek word for “slander” is “diablos”. You guessed right. Slander is the tongue of the devil and it’s only purpose is to destroy. It takes a concerted effort to resist the enemy’s lies. Plug your ears and do not answer him a word. Let this be a warning as well to hold your tongue when you are at odds with someone.
A man without control over his emotions is like a city without walls. Every conversation is being recorded and one day all will be revealed and the books will be opened. Take courage and do not fear your enemy! Keep your eyes on the prize and your hands to the plow and keep doing what God has told you to do.
