Jesus Associates Unfaithfulness

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE that Jesus associates unfaithfulness and hypocrisy with the belief and desire that Christ will delay His return. “But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’” Matthew‬ ‭24:48‬ ‭(Read vs 45-51) The NT church undoubtedly lived and operated with Jesus’ imminent return in mind. Even so much so that many quit their jobs because their belief in His return would be any day. Don’t quit your job, but are you living with the expectation that He could return at any moment? If you feared God, you would. Christianity is a faith-based religion. This means that we take everything BY FAITH and faith is not a “hope so hope”, but a “know so hope”. It’s a firm reliance and yes, obedience on and to His Word. IF you have faith in His death and resurrection; meaning you trust that the blood of Christ washes away all your sins upon repentance and through His resurrection you receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the ability to overcome all things; THEN you must have faith in His imminent return. IF you knew when the thief was going to rob your house, you would have been ready. YET, most wont be ready. Don’t hesitate. Don’t get slothful and sloppy! Repent and continue to do the work He’s called you to until He brings you home. Salvation is until the end. Even so, come Lord Jesus!
