THE NAME JUDAS is synonymous with betrayal. The funny thing about Judas is that the disciples who walked with Judas for three years were fooled by his spirituality. For he had cast out demons and healed the sick right along with them. Only Jesus knew his heart. “Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Proverbs 27:6 NKJV Judas said and did all the right things, but subtly undermined leadership, “for it might have been sold and given to the poor” an inappropriate comment towards Jesus. He was a thief, stealing not only money but affections; and a liar, deceiving his closest confidants.
You can’t recognize a Judas until he makes himself known. It would behoove you to remember that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood”; Judas allowed a demonic spirit to infiltrate him by a crack, typically selfish ambition. Confrontation reveals character. Judas is always right at any cost and cannot be corrected, it would wound his pride. Yet, he may lie and cover up his bitterness, for a season.
Unless there is a heart change, God will reveal his character. You don’t have to hang a Judas, he will hang himself. Here’s the caution: NEVER let Judas change who you are called to be in Christ! Betrayal can be a huge stumbling block and you still have a race to run. Love him, but not everyone who kisses you is a friend. #runyourrace
