LACK OF COURAGE creates lack of strength to meet adversity. “If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.” Proverbs‬ ‭24:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ This Scripture has always spoken to my heart. Here’s the literal translation in Hebrew, “If you fail, and succumb to anxiety or danger, instead of rising to meet the emergency, then you are but a weakling or a coward, and the strength which you seemed to possess and of which you boasted is worth nothing.” (Pulpit Commentary) The time to build your strength and courage in the Lord is BEFORE the trial. The time to get wisdom is BEFORE adversity comes so that we can endure hardship like a good soldier. Be rooted and strengthened in Christ in the green times so that when the flood comes you will not grow weary in doing good. BUILD UP your most holy faith and you will reap a good harvest, lest you faint. Do you notice that while God has supplied everything you need, YOU have work to do? IF you grow despondent and depressed in times of affliction, THEN you have little Christian strength or courage. Is God not enough? Is His strength not perfect? Is there anything impossible for Him? Where’s your courage Christian? You must flee cowardice and cloak yourself in courage. You must fill yourself up with God’s Word and His wisdom. You must draw strength from Christ in prayer, in praise, in the fellowship of the brethren. Do these things and you will stand firm when adversity and persecution come.
