HIS MERCY DRAWS ME IN, the fear of the Lord keeps me. “But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple.” Psalms 5:7 NKJV The Hebrew word for “mercy” is “hesed” and it is translated as “loving kindness that keeps covenant”.
Mercy is shown because God keeps covenant. God keeps His Word. He will do what He said He would do. He made a beautiful way to come near Him through the precious blood of the Lamb. When I approach Him with reverential awe and fear; my heart is exposed, cleansed, corrected and led in His path of righteousness. v.8 Jesus confirms the psalmist when He said, “those who worship God must worship in Spirit and in truth”. Worship is about Him and for Him, so it is never entered into lightly.
First, there is an awe produced in us that we may draw near to Him. Second, there is an awe produced when the Spirit begins investigating our hearts and motives and all things are laid bare in His sight. But give God lip service and embarrassment will be produced. Worship according to the dictates of His Spirit. Hold back sin and wickedness and the Spirit reveals your lies. Worship in truth. Where is the fear of the Lord? Do you approach Him in awe and wonderment? That a wretched man like you may boldly come before His throne? And that it is an honor and privilege of His Son to allow you to enter? Our God is an awesome God. Worship in awe and wonder and never lose your fear of the Almighty. #runyourrace
