Metamorphosis Hebrew 7:11-25 (NLT)
- What does this mean?
- The writer of Hebrew starts with the Question on vs 11- If there was an orderly way of priesthood that was established by God- That priests should only come from the order of Levi and Aaron- why would God establish another order of priesthood?
- Jesus could not be priest according to the Mosaic law because He was from the tribe of Judah
- The answer – Jesus came to be the High Priest not by the meeting the physical requirement but by a life that would last forever
- Hebrew 7:16 (NLT)- Jesus became a priest, not by meeting the physical requirement of belonging to the tribe of Levi, but by the power of a life that cannot be destroyed.
- If perfection would come through Levitical priesthood, there would be no need for another priest
- Because its inability to justify the sinner before God
- The law does a great job of setting God’s perfect standard, but it doesn’t give the power to keep that standard
- It didn’t allow man to walk with God – God was only reachable via a priest
- The old law shows us Gods standard, the new law draws us close to God
- Although the law performed a valuable function, its essential weakness was that it could not give life and vitality even to those who kept it, let alone to those who did not. In fact, its function was not to provide strength, but to provide a standard by which man could measure his own moral status. Its uselessness must not be regarded in the sense of being totally worthless, but in the sense of being ineffective in providing a constant means of approach to God based on a totally adequate sacrifice.” (Guthrie)
- The law provides expert diagnosis of our sin problem which is absolutely necessary, But the law does not provide the cure for our sin problem- Only Jesus can save us from our sin problem
- We can’t go back and build laws of old things because we now have a relationship with Jesus
- Law is not the dominating principle in our life
- New covenant is based on What Jesus did and not what we do – Even though you have a part to play
- A way was established where we didn’t have to go through priests and we could go through Christ to Jesus
- In order for us to understand this we have to go back and look at our nature
- We don’t talk about death & hell enough
- Revelation 21:8 (NLT) – All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
- Everlasting separation from God
- Revelation 20:13-15 – The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave[a] gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds. Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire
- Judgement is coming
- Our ultimate goal here in Church and a Christian is to make sure that you finish the race well
- Being a good Christian does not keep you out of hell
- We see in the old testament – many priests that started well but didn’t end up well
- Church has become a live you best life now – Lets love everyone – But the goal is to love them enough to say, bro— this path is leading you to hell
- All these political, social, changes and lack of therefore are not to make you miserable – They are geared to lead you to hell
- If the devil to find knock out opportunity – he will take it – Stop taking these sermons as self-improvement message
- Time is short and your life is at stake – Let paint the real picture – hell is real people and God would not sacrifice His only Son to get you to have a better life here!
- We don’t talk about Jesus enough
- John 19:1-3 (NLT) Then Pilate had Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip. 2 The soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they put a purple robe on him. 3 “Hail! King of the Jews!” they mocked, as they slapped him across the face.
- Isaiah 53:7-11 (NLT) He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet He never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, He did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, He was led away. No one cared that He died without descendants, that His life was cut short in midstream. But He was struck down for the rebellion of my people. He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But He was buried like a criminal; He was put in a rich man’s grave. But it was the LORD ’s good plan to crush Him and cause Him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the LORD ’s good plan will prosper in his hands. When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins
- All these to keep us in relationship with God forever
- All this to have Jesus intercede for us – To have the Holy Spirit as our constant companion
- Jesus does it without and end
- Unlike the priests- Jesus knows what coming and prays for us
- He will intervene for us forever
- Much is given, much is required – Total submission is required – Much has been paid for already

- There is no problem with you being a tadpole if you growing

- We need to leave the amphibian stage and move on to be mature
- We have to stay as grown-up frogs
- It would be interesting if our growth as Christian was evident outward
- Came to church on a Sunday and by Wed, because of your behaviors you were back to being an amphibian
- You amphibian you, you need to metamorphosis
- I pray that we can be like the frogs – stay like the frogs and not pretend that we are frogs
- Some of are exactly that, we look the part and we are doing well from the outside yet

Today, God put a big mirror in front of you. Take a deep look at your life and ask yourself, these things that am hiding are they worth me heading to hell and never meeting and spending eternity with the on that paid it all for me
Is it worth it? Brothers and Sisters, is it worth it to hold on to?
A great of a price was paid for you and today you get to choose
Hebrew 7:25(Ampc) – Therefore He is able also to save to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, finally, and for all time and eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He is always living to make petition to God and intercede with Him and intervene for them
