MONDAY SUCKS! Here me out please. When I was in high school I listened to the radio station 99.5 KISS. There were two DJ’s that every Monday had a sound bite that cried out “MONDAY SUCKS!” Yeah, I get it. It’s rough getting out of bed early and getting back to work or to school, back to the daily grind.
For years, I had this mindset that Monday was going to be just horrible and rotten and I begin to expect it to be bad, “someone’s got a case of the Mondays”. And because I expected Monday to be bad, I had a bad attitude to go along with my expectation and most Mondays I had a bad day. “Leave me alone. It’s Monday”.
Can I just speak to you for a sec? Maybe you, like myself, need a mind shift. I believe every day is a gift and every day that I have the breath of God in me I can do great things and be victorious. Every day I am blessed. Yes, even on a Monday. I love Mondays, it’s my day off and I’m still victorious. “This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” (Ps 118:24, 29)
I realize the psalmist is talking about a specific day, but today you are still saved and God is still good. This day you are still blessed. This day you are still victorious over the enemy of our souls. Today is a great day to be alive. Rejoice! You are still breathing and there is still hope in our Lord and Savior. Rejoice! If you are still here, then He still has a job for you to do. Therefore, rejoice in Monday.
Set your mind that its going to be a good day. Greet your fellow workers. Greet your family, you get to hug and kiss them. You get to train your children in righteousness. You get to go to work and earn some money. Rejoice because the Lord is good and He is faithful. And again I say “Rejoice!”
“One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.” Romans 14:5-8
Besides, what good is it to be negative and sour? Your bad attitude will ensure you have a bad day. Turn that frown upside down and give thanks. A heart full of gratitude will change your attitude. And again I say, “Rejoice!”
