THE NICOLAITANS, BALAAM, AND JEZEBEL promoted the progressive doctrine of accommodation to the culture around them and they saw themselves as gifted leaders, equipped with the Spirit, helping the church to adapt to new times. There’s nothing new under the sun. False teachers will have their place and will be held responsible for their message, but aren’t you responsible for what you give your ears and eyes to? What message are you receiving and believing? Are you checking every word spoken next to Scripture? Just because it sounds pleasant, doesn’t mean it’s of God. Just because the preacher is charismatic, doesn’t mean the message is true. Just because you feel good, doesn’t make it godly. Deception abounds. The Apostle Paul tells us, “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭And he goes on to tell the Corinthian church they were STILL carnal, acting as natural men. They were not discerning the right, true and spiritual things because they weren’t crucifying their flesh. A desire for carnality produces itching ears. There’s no “new” or “special” revelation. The old rugged cross hasn’t changed and it requires and produces the power for YOU to change from a carnal man into a spiritual man. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever.
