“TEACH THEM TO OBEY”- Jesus. Yet how many people refuse to hear these words? The church’s job is to make disciples- mature Christians, not moved about with every wind of doctrine or false gospel. The pastor’s job is to correct, discipline, rebuke, exhort, encourage and build up the Body, teaching them to obey.
A church that does not teach obedience to the Word of God is not obeying Jesus. “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”” Matthew 28:19-20
It is amazing how many people fight with you when the church says, “Obey the Word of God”. I’m astounded at the amount of professing Christians that say, “I believe in Jesus!” But they produce the fruit of disobedience. Obedience is the evidence of one who has been born again. You don’t obey to be saved, you obey because you are saved. Grace is a catalyst for obedience. The Holy Spirit can only obey God’s Word for He wrote the revealed word.
Obedience is in full, not in part. We do not get to pick and choose which words we want to obey and which we don’t. The psalmist tells us, “Great peace have they who love Your law (word, precepts, commands): and nothing shall offend them.” So many offended people because they do not actually love God’s Word, they spurn and disobey His Word. If you attack another for speaking, writing, obeying the revealed Word of God— then why? What’s in you that despises His Word or those who love His Word? Examine your fruit. What’s coming out right now-obedience or disobedience?#runyourrace
