“As the LORD had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did. He left nothing undone of all that the LORD had commanded Moses.” Joshua 11:15 NKJV
When I read this verse I see a wonderful example of submission to leadership and obedience to God. Joshua was obedient, whether direction came from God directly or through the commands and writings of Moses, Joshua’s leader and mentor, the shepherd chosen to rule over him.
Can we say the same of ourselves, with consideration to the leaders placed over us? “And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.” (Jer. 3:15). God has placed His true shepherds among us, who seek after His heart and are called to feed His sheep. A true shepherd feeds the church with knowledge and understanding, carefully handling the word of God and speaking with the authority given them.
The Bible calls us to “Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.” (Heb. 13:17). It is PROFITABLE for you to obey and submit to those placed in authority over you, for they do so out of love and obedience to God. It grieves their heart when they see that they care more for your eternity than you, when they speak knowledge and wisdom that can free you, yet you reject it. Joshua experienced great victories because of his obedience, does your life reflect the same? #CalledtoBattle
