REFUSE TO LIVE IN THE PAST. There’s a lot of guilt and shame that can come from dwelling on your past, those past sins, past mistakes and regrets; these things can consume you. In Christ, you are a new creation. Think like it. Act like it. Live like it. But you can also get stuck in the past day-dreaming about better days gone by, “Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For you do not inquire wisely concerning this.” Ecclesiastes 7:10
There’s no wisdom in dwelling on the past. Period. There’s nothing you can do. There’s no time machine to take you back. There’s no memory strong enough to transport you. The past is in the past. Put it behind you and don’t look back. Jesus said, “No man looking back is fit for the kingdom” because the kingdom is ahead of us. The Lord knows the heart of man and He knows we can get stuck in the past, for good or bad. And if we get stuck, we won’t move forward. The kingdom is ahead. The kingdom is in the future.
The only thing we have control over is how we respond to today. Even in chaotic times, you can choose to have joy. Our hope is not in this world, but in Christ and His ability to overcome. Choose to believe His Word over your current circumstances. I believe He still has a hope and a future for His people. I choose to believe this. Today, I will rejoice that He is in control. He has not relinquished authority. He has me in His hands. No matter what this world does, better days are still ahead. I will not look back, but rather look to Him. Today is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Let the past go and find joy in the present of His presence. #runyourrace
