“and the Lord said to him, ‘Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.’”
Ezekiel 9:4
When judgment fell upon Jerusalem because of their continual disobedience and rebellion, the only thing that mattered was if you were found in the Lord. Only His faithful were kept, only a small remnant remained faithful to Him. It’s easy to become distracted in this life! Promises of wealth, the desire to be seen, sit in places of power and status, lust for pleasure and the finer things in life. The pleasures and comforts of this life can and will distract us from the only thing that truly matters: to love God and be found in Him.
Your wealth will not save you when He returns, your job won’t protect you. Your possessions and accomplishments will not shield you when Christ comes in all His glory. Your comforts will be a snare to you if you are not diligent to be found in the Lord. ‘They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be like refuse; their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord” (Eze. 7:19).
This world and this life are temporary, pleasures are fleeting. The Lord is coming soon, the time is very short. There will be a great separation of the faithful and the wicked, will you be found in Him? Have you turned a blind eye to the abominations that abound? Repent and turn to Him while there is yet time.
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him;
And to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
Isaiah 55:7
